Updated 77 weeks ago [10 Mar 2008|03:00am]
I forgot I had this baby over hurrrr. I was reminded LJ existed when I saw Livejournal friend JAN at Mac & Marti. The update on my life is as follows:

I work at the Rally Point - a pc and game console center located in Agana. I've also applied at the superior court as a data entry clerk. I received a letter from them that I do qualify for the position so I hope to hear from them soon.

I've been in and out of seeing someone a couple of months ago. We remain good friends.

I've had a crazy load of drama that has allowed me to identify who real friends are and to just have a bigger perspective on life as compared to others.

My brother added a new adition to the family. A baby girl named Miley. I am now a Godfather, too.

I got a lip piercing last August.

I gained 30 lbs. over the course of last summer which took me from 130 to 160. Over the last month however, I've lost about six to eight lbs.

I've stuck with my graphic abilities (or lack thereof) and have had a bunch of t-shirts and fliers printed for UOG events. Oh, we also won another Coke competition, this time around it was just for the radio because we were not allowed to have a video submission.

Life's great these days. How's everyone else out there?

The Last Supper [12 Dec 2005|04:33am]
I leave today. Kinda excited. Kinda bummed. Gonna miss everyone. To all those who showed up to the din-din, big ol' thank you. I think the only thing I'm worried about is 1)if my luggage will meet the max weight of 50 lbs. and if the guitar case will meet the required size and 2) if changing aircrafts will run smoother than I expect; I've never flown alone, so that'll be an experience in itself. My ideal seat mate would consist of 3 things:

1) That they do not snore
2) That they are social
3) That they will be interesting

all of the above with a preference of someone around my age, give or take 2 years?

Anyway, I intend on staying up, but it's already hard to keep these eye lids from drooping shut. The Omega Energy drink isn't doing the trick, probably because my body doesn't co-operate correctly with these types of things. It seems to have the opposite effect.

But here are some pics from tonight, we celebrate The Last SupperCollapse ) ,for 2005 at least.

Season 2 coming to you directly from New Mexico. Stay tuned.. Ooo-OOOOO DJ-TV.

And for all you environmentally concerned folk who didn't read yesterday's newspaper:

Recycle your trash, incentives attached

By Katie Worth
Pacific Daily News
kworth@guampdn.com

For years, green-minded Guam residents have had the best intentions, but no outlet for their environmentally friendly urges.

Though a few recycling companies accepted aluminum cans, there was nowhere for civilians to dispose of glass or paper except for the mountainous Ordot dump. And if you wanted to get rid of your car batteries legally, you'd have to pay someone to take them.

But in recent months, all that has changed:

  • Stanlee's Liquor & Deli in Tumon recently imported a glass-breaking machine and accepts glass bottles for recycling;

  • A new company, Guam Transport and Warehouse, opened recently and accepts office paper, newspapers, cardboard and other paper products to its Harmon warehouse for recycling free of charge.

  • And Triple Star Recycling in Harmon, in addition to accepting aluminum and other metal waste, will actually pay a dollar for used car batteries, VCRs, televisions, computers and other office equipment. They also buy used air conditioners.

The new recycling options have long-time recyclers like Paul Tobiason near ecstatic. Tobiason, founding member of RAG -- the Recycling Association of Guam -- has for years been waiting for someplace the island can conveniently recycle its paper and glass.

The new recycling options have also made him a few bucks: he's recently taken six batteries and two old VCRs to Triple Star Recycling and received a total of $8.

"If there's a little bit of economic incentive, people will cooperate to a large extent. In fact, what I heard from my friend was people were bringing in batteries by the truckload, and that means the island was getting cleaned up," Tobiason said.

    Glass bottles

Those who enjoy a glass of wine will also have an incentive to recycle: Stanley Miller, owner of Stanlee's Liquor & Deli, said he will be giving a dollar discount on wine to those who bring in empty wine bottles for recycling.

"What we're doing is to offer a trade-in on wine bottles," he said. "If you bring them in to be crushed, we'll give you a dollar discount on a new bottle of wine. That's the easiest way we see to get them in."

He said that once he gets enough crushed glass, he will ship it to China where it can be recycled into more bottles.

He said that many bars and hotels in Australia use bottle breaking machines in order to save space and lessen the mess.

Tobiason said it's exactly this kind of incentive that can really make a difference when it comes to recycling.

If waste is worthless, he said, then people just toss it out without a thought. But once trash -- such as glass bottles, car batteries or aluminum cans -- has some value, even if it's just a nickel apiece, then people will be motivated to recycle, he said.

"With a little incentive and a little convenience, things will get started and people will do the right thing," he said.

    Spelling F [27 Jun 2005|05:17am]
Since my current sleep begins at 8am, I opted to peruse the television and stumbled upon ESPN 2 which held a Spelling B.

It was pretty amazing what these kids could spell. Questions such as: origin of the word; alternate pronunciations; definitions etc. all came into play. I tried to spell along with them, but glanced at the screen to find I was one-too-many letters way off!

When a kid finally won, he started to cry tears of joy. When he was interviewed by a Spelling B reporter, she questioned the seemingly genius child what was going through his head, and to let his emotions reign free via microphone..

    to which he replied:
    "Ecstaticness."

And I laughed out loud, threw the remote control to the television and said, "Ecstaticness: Y-O-U-S-O-N-O-F-A-B-I-T-C-H, Ecstaticness."

Even though he used a word that didn't exist, he has made me want to be a Spelling B geek now.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com TURMOIL AT THE ROCK-(AP)

Last night, at HardRock Cafe in Tumon, two security guards, their employer unknown, were almost brutally beaten by four locals. "I saw the whole thing!" Mark Alviz, a bystander, said. "One of the guys was walking past me and I heard him say he 'barely had any scratches on his face dude bro fuck you,' and then I turned to my right and see two security folk come at them."

"We were just taking some sexy pictures," another bystander, Frank Candaso, said. "I managed to take a photo of one of them, but there were no action scenes available, sadly."

The security guards appeared to be in healthy condition, other than the fact that their morale had been lowered, and that they might possibly contemplate resigning from the security force.

    Sigua '05 [01 Jun 2005|03:15am]
    Well, well.

Monday, we decided to go hike Sigua Falls again. And boy, was it a good time to go.

Me, my brother, Mark, Hannah, Christian, Paul and his two cousins, Carlos and Toby were the troopers of the day. It was really friggin' fun, especially after a few jumps into the nice water.

    Tank Farm

Toby jumped off the top-top of the waterfall. That made 4 others interested in doing so. So, me, my brother, Carlos, and Paul all jumped it too. Boy, was that an adrenaline rush.

As I stood at the top looking down at the spot I wanted to jump, my hands began to go numb, so that forced me to jump even quicker because I didn't want other body parts to malfunction.

The ride down was cool. When I hit the water, I sort of slammed the left side of my face on the surface, and I popped out of the water with a mildly swollen face. It was all worth it though.

After the hike, me, brother, Mark, Hannah and Puma ate at PTC, hung out in the Outrigger, loittered in K-Mart, and right when I was about to drop Mark home, I decided Hey, let's go around the island. We just ended up conquering the south, just like Magellan, and sang songs the whole way through.

    Good times, good times indeed.
